Come Support a Local School’s Organic Garden

Slow Food Phoenix is working with The Little Garden Schoolhouse to develop an organic garden for this Montessori preschool.

With financial support from Slow Food USA, we hope to help to complete the irrigation, planting, and garden beds on the south side of the school. Next, the school would like to establish a butterfly garden, expand their vegetable beds, plant a scent garden, and finish addressing the rainwater issues. This is a project that’s working on a shoestring budget: the existing garden beds were made from scavenged wood and bins, plants for the butterfly and scent gardens were donated, and supplies are purchased from places like Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore. The artistic caterpillar in this photo was created from recycled bicycle parts at our last community workday. {{ image(3160, {“class”: “flor round”, “width”: “300”, “height”: “200”, “method”: “img”}) }}

Won’t you join us? We would welcome your help at the next community workday at the preschool’s garden! To participate, please email us
