FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BROOKLYN, NY — February 8, 2017

Slow Food USA is announcing a brand new chapter: Slow Food Middle Tennessee. The chapter will focus on community-facing food justice programs and rallying around food that is good, clean, and fair for all. “We want to focus on educational opportunities that promote Slow Food’s ideas of good, clean and fair food, and offer different types programming that are accessible to anyone interested in our mission,” says board chair Diana Barton. The chapter’s mission is to facilitate accessible educational programs; provide awareness of and equal access to good, clean and fair foods; and advocate for a healthy, delicious, sustainable and diverse food system for the community of Middle Tennessee.

Slow Food Middle Tennessee joins over 130 chapters across the United States and 1500 worldwide. Slow Food started in 1989 as a movement against the industrialization of fast food, and makes strong connections between plate, planet, people, politics and culture. Slow Food USA seeks to inspire individuals and communities to change the world through food that is good, clean and fair for all.

Slow Food Middle Tennessee is hosting a kickoff event on Sunday, February 12th, at local brewpub Jackalope Brewing Company. The event is free and open to the public. The chapter is also planning a partnership with the Nashville Farmers Market, which is hosting a CSA fair on Saturday, February 25th to help people select a CSA and meet their farmers.
