Building on the strong foundations of Slow Food, the Youth Food Movement initiates opportunities for interaction and the global sharing of information. We build young leadership in the food system and connect these leaders to one another through projects and exchanges. The Youth Food Movement provides platforms for youth to discuss the themes that are fundamental for their future and for the future of food and farming.

We harness the potential of international fluidity and communication to positively affect local food communities and economies. The Youth Food Movement strives to support youth that use global awareness and information to shape and impact local projects.
The Youth Food Movement was launched in 2007 at the International Slow Food Leaders Congress in Puebla, Mexico. At this gathering, representatives of youth food initiatives around the world gathered under the banners of Slow Food USA and the University of Gastronomic Sciences to present their vision of a just and sustainable future. This focus of this future is the awakening and strengthening of an international network of young farmers, producers, students, chefs, and activists.
