Can my company/organization/restaurant join Slow Food USA?
We currently do not offer corporate or group memberships. You are welcome to join as an individual, or you and an additional person can apply for a dual membership at the same mailing address (you will each receive a membership card, but only one copy of our publications). There are many ways that companies, organizations and restaurants can get involved locally, nationally and internationally. Slow Food has many partners and sponsors who are involved in events and advertising. Please contact us if you are interested in sponsorship or advertising opportunities.
I live outside the US. Can I join Slow Food USA?
Our members live in the United States and the Virgin Islands. Members outside of this area can join Slow Food at http://www.slowfood.com and pick their country of residence. If you live outside the USA but would like to receive The Food Chain, our e-newsletter, please email us at
What are the benefits of being a member of Slow Food USA?
There are many written and unwritten benefits of joining Slow Food USA! Most importantly, you are helping support a good, clean and fair food system and Slow Food USA's programs that work to support local agriculture in the US. You'll receive a Slow Food USA membership card along with our national quarterly journal the Snail, the international Slow Food publication The Slow Food Almanac, as well as discounts on select merchandise and Slow Food events. As a member, you will also be connected to your local chapter and other like-minded people in your community and invited to local, national and international events. Overall, members help in the creation of a good, clean, and fair food system!
I recently joined but I haven't heard from my local chapter leader. How can I get involved?
Please contact your chapter leader today and let him/her know that you would like to get involved! Your leaders' contact information is listed on your membership card—you can also find it here: http://www.slowfoodusa.org/contact/index.html.
I recently joined but I haven't received any of the publications. Why?
Our publications are sent to members on a rolling basis. If you join Slow Food in January for example, you'll receive the following issue of the Snail (printed in March). We currently do not send out back issues. The Food Chain is emailed to members at the beginning of every month. If you have not received The Food Chain, please email us at and make sure that we have your current email address on file. Also, check your Spam and/or Junk email mail folder as it unfortunately may be stuck in there!
I would like to start a new chapter in my area. How do I do this?
Please review this web page on how to start a local chapter and then email our staff, and we will set up a time to speak with you.
I would like to receive invitations from two chapters in my area; is this possible?
Yes, please indicate which chapters when you join/renew or email us at
Where do my membership dues go?
From supporting Slow Food in Schools to opening new Slow Food chapters, your membership helps Slow Food grow and further our goals and initiatives nationally and internationally. Click here for more descriptions and our dollar distribution chart.
I support the movement but I am on a limited budget. Does Slow Food USA have discounted memberships?
We currently have a $30 student rate which does not include the international publication The Slow Food Almanac.
I'd like to deduct my membership dues from my taxes this year. How can I do this?
Your membership dues are tax-deductible, and the membership card and letter you receive in the mail after joining serve as your receipt.
I recently moved. May I give you my new address?
Yes, please email us your new address at or send us a fax at (718) 260-8000.
