HomeGrown Festival: Celebrating Local Food, Farms, and Community

Ann Arbor, Michigan
Sat, September 11, 2010
6:00PM - 11:00PM

Ann Arbor Farmers Market, 315 Detroit St., Ann
Arbor, MI

Taking place at the historic Ann Arbor Farmers’ Market, the HomeGrown Festival celebrates eating from and learning about our incredible foodshed here in Southeast Michigan.

During this family oriented Festival, local chefs will prepare affordable tasting portions with the best of our farms’ harvest. To go with the food, more than a dozen locally produced beverages will be available, including beer, wine, hard cider, and mead. Project Grow will be back with their incredible tomato tasting of more than 50 varieties of heirloom tomatoes. Farmers, food artisans, and non-profit organizations will be participating with food for sale and with fun activities for young and old. A fantastic lineup of musicians will provide a backdrop of festivity to a beautiful evening of celebrating our farms and food, and of working together toward community food security.

We are making efforts to create a zero-waste event. Programs will be printed on recycled materials and will be available to view at the Festival. The Washtenaw Biking and Walking Coalition will again be providing Bike Valet service to make it easy to leave cars at home. And with the help of Recycle Ann Arbor, we will be composting and recycling everything possible.

The mission of the HomeGrown Festival is to serve as a catalyst in raising awareness of the importance and benefits of community food security. Come hungry, and leave happy.

Price: Entrance and activities are free, food and drink are for sale
