Farm to Table Dining
Slow Food Buffalo Elmwood Bidwell Farmers Market 10am - 1pm
Slow Food Buffalo is proud to sponsor the newest addition to the already very popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market. Beginning May 31st, every Saturday, one of Buffalo's most talented chefs will appear at the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, preparing a dish or two that utilizes the many fresh, local ingredients available at the market and also showing how to create a whole meal for your family. Participating chefs are from local Buffalo restaurants: Oliver's, Ristorante Lombardo, SAMPLE, Torches and Trattoria Aroma. Also appearing are two well-known personal chefs and caterers, Chef Avi Altman and Chef Bill Metzgar.
Did you know that if Erie County citizens converted their grocery budget to include only 1% locally grown products, our struggling farmers would see a 5% increase in profits? Stop in any Saturday between 10AM ˆ 1PM and see what talented local chefs are cooking up with Buffalo's bounty!

What's for Dinner - Food and Politics in the 21st Century Conference; with a workshop
Slow Food Buffalo
Chautauqua, NY
Various time throughout the week
From the 100-mile diet, five-star restaurants and peppy television chefs to giant agri-business, this week of workshops will add context to our understanding of how food is produced, biologically altered and distributed, the rise of organic agriculture and the simple joys of eating. Food - from the old family recipe to the culinary arts - consumes a central role in our lives and is our most intimate and direct connection to nature. It elicits both passion and guilt, it comforts and satisfies, it sustains the body and is a source of beauty and art. What we eat and how it arrives in our kitchens and restaurants is also influenced by political and economic decisions.

The Art & Craft of Dining
Slow Food Buffalo
East Aurora, NY
7pm
Chef Andrew Nuernberg and Dan Garvey from the historic Roycroft Inn is working with Slow Food Buffalo member Sandy Starks to create yet another spectacular Art & Craft of Dining© experience. This years theme will be Roycroft Arden Farms Reconnected. Dan Roelofs, great-grandson of Roycroft founder Elbert Hubbard, has recently returned to East Aurora to help his family and the farm. Arden Farms, located on Bilington Road, is the oldest certified organic farm in Erie County and Dan is working hard to plant a variety of organic and heritage vegetables and herbs that will be used this summer at area restaurants.
We have selected a variety of heritage organic seeds that will be planted in April - ready for for the Art & Craft of Dining© at the peak of freshness at the harvest time this fall. Once we see what mother nature decides to do with this planting we will announce the menu for this popular event. We are also looking at the various new sources out in our community to round out the menu. Of course, wines will be from New York State and Southern Ontario.
Price: $100
