Calling all Farmers Market Managers! all Farmers Market Advocates! all Urban Planning Students and Professionals!

Project for Public Spaces is hosting their 7th International Public Markets Conference in San Francisco this April 23 – 26 in order to explore all the ramifications of how markets are providing access to healthy, safe food; revitalizing local neighborhoods through dynamic places; creating jobs by keeping dollars in the local economy; providing real opportunities for minorities and new immigrants; and creating more sustainable communities and regions.

Since 1975, PPS has worked in more than 2,000 communities in 26 countries around the world, helping people turn their public spaces into vital community places, with programs, uses, and people-friendly settings that build local value and serve community needs. In addition to other focus areas, they have supported public markets in particular, and helped them to become vibrant public spaces while also achieving broader social impacts – from community development, to health and nutrition, to preserving family farms.

Register for the conference now and you will be able to join other attendees from around the country and around the world. You can attend workshops including building local food communities; marketing your farmers market; and creating community partnerships. You can take tours of local markets including the many markets of San Francisco, the East Bay and Napa.
