US Delegation Apply by March 23

Slow Food USA is looking for a few good delegates to represent us at this year’s Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto 2014. Every two years Slow Food International gathers leaders from more than 160 countries in Turin, Italy to celebrate good, clean and fair food. This year’s celebration will take place October 23-27. Slow Food USA was invited to bring 240 delegates to represent the wide array of food traditions that make up our diverse American food culture.

This year’s Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto theme is food diversity, allowing Slow Food to showcase its Ark of Taste and Presida projects. Slow Food USA is eager to celebrate our nation’s cultural diversity among its eaters and food producers. That’s why we are encouraging people of color, young leaders and immigrants to apply this year.

While Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto are open to the general public, the benefits of being a delegate include free admission, housing, food, and ground transportation during the event, as well as an opportunity to showcase their work at Slow Food USA-sponsored booths and events. Delegates are chosen for their ability to represent the breadth of the country’s food traditions and movement success stories as well as their capacity to take the new lessons, ideas and relationships back to the challenges still to be met at home.
